For professional networking perspective, LinkedIn, Zoom, and Google are the most popular platforms. These digital platforms really help students to develop professional networks.

What could the student consider in expanding their professional learning network?

I think as a student, we need to consider privacy and security when we’re expanding our professional learning network. Functionality is also an important point when we develop our professional learning network.

When in Visitor mode, we use something on the Internet without leaving any social trace behind. We use something as a tool to accomplish a task, and when the task is done, we put the tool away.

  • Reading information
  • Watching videos
  • Online shopping
  • ‘Lurking’
  • Finding directions

When in Resident mode, our goal is social presence and connecting with others. In this mode, we leave persistent social traces behind.

  • Joining discussions
  • Commenting on posts
